Hi!
I'm Barbara.
I'm a Paulista who got a Fullbright scholarship and and moved to Lawrence, KS (Rock Chalk!) with two suit cases to study industrial design. At a point during those four years, while drawing thumbnail sketches of kids’ fishing poles, I realized that design makes a lot more sense when backed by research. Who were the kids we were designing for? Who took them fishing? How big were their hands?
The realization that I am more passionate about understanding people, as opposed to endlessly sketching fishing poles, drove me to grad school for design research and management.
I studied a lot of the subjects that I am interested in… anthropology, communications, research methods, and design management. Finally, it was time to leave Lawrence. As much as I would have loved to be the "forever student" I figured I probably should get a job.
So, eleven years ago I found my way to Chicago - and here you can see a little bit about my career journey since.
Thanks for coming, let’s get in touch!
